Most recently making her appearance in Iron Man 2 and The Avengers, Black Widow has a history dating back to the 1960s Tales of Suspense Comics. In that first iteration of the character she was named Natasha Romanova and was orphaned as the result of Nazis setting her family’s home on fire. Raised by a Russian soldier, she grew into a spectacular athlete that was recognized by the USSR and drafted into the KGB as a special operative. Becoming their best recruit she was dubbed ‘The Black Widow” and clashed with Iron Man while trying to gather information from Stark Industries.
